I received my Ph.D. in philosophy and M.A. in Psychology in 1989 from the University of Michigan, USA. After working and publishing for several years in the field of philosophy of psychology, I switched (in 1992) to philosophical practice and started practicing philosophical counseling.

In 1994 I initiated, and co-organized with Dr. Lou Marinoff, the first International Conference on Philosophical Counseling in Vancouver, Canada.

In 1995 I edited the first book in the English language in the field (Essays on Philosophical Counseling).

In June of 2005 I organized, together with Jose Barrientos, the First International Philosophical Retreat on Contemplatice Philosophy. It took place in Chipiona, Spain. Participants included philosophical practitioners from 8 countries.

For the past 13 years I have been teaching one semester a year at Haifa University in Israel, including courses in Philosophical Counseling. During the rest of the year I live in rural  Vermont, USA.

In recent years I have given numerous lectures and workshops in a number of countries. I am grateful to my friends around the world for giving me the opportunity to visit their universities and countries.
